Jump on the Green Smoothie bandwagon!

If you haven't tried a green smoothie yet then you don't know what you're missing out on!

Sure, the green color & often thick texture may not hold the greatest appeal but it really does make the perfect healthy meal or snack due to leafy greens being loaded with antioxidants and vitamins.

My day always begins with a green smoothie - quick, easy, nutritious & delicious!

I start my preparation the night before by soaking nuts and chia seeds and then in the morning I add in fruit & veg, blend up and go! When you blend up fruit & vegetables, the nutrients become more readily available for your body and quickly absorbed for maximum benefit! If I have a busy day ahead of me I'll have a green smoothie in the fridge, perfect for in between clients or when I'm eating on the run.

The beauty of a green smoothie is that you can add in whatever you like to suit your tastebuds. I work from a ratio that is 80% vegetables & 20% fruit so that my smoothie doesn't contain too much sugar then I add in a mixture of superfoods, nuts, herbs, spices and seeds.

Apart from being convenient, a green smoothie is also a great way of jam-packing your daily quota of fruit & veg in (2 fruit & 5 veg as recommended by the Australian Dietary Guidelines).

Green smoothies are also fantastic for children and a great way to sneak in healthy foods that they wouldn't normally eat in whole form! My fave green smoothie recipe is activated Almonds, Chia seeds, Water, Turmeric, Cinnamon, Strawberries, Mint, Flaxseed, Spinach, Broccoli, Celery & Cucumber. If you are new to the green smoothie trend, here are some other ingredients which you could try:

Kale, Zucchini, Watercress, Fennel, Lettuce, Beetroot, Kiwifruit, Pears, Apples, Pineapple, Bananas, Almond Milk, Coconut Water, Maca, Spirulina, Walnuts, Pecans, Cacao, Ginger...the list is endless! Add in anything that your tastebuds desire!

Why not try a green smoothie a day for a week and see how it makes you feel!

What have you got to lose?

I'd love to see your green smoothie concotions so be sure to tag me in your social media pictures x
